APPEARANCE

Cosmetically, WhisperRooms present a handsome and professional appearance. This helps to create the necessary mood / environment often needed to inspire high levels of productivity and creativity. All components are covered, interior and exterior, with an attractive yet durable, charcoal gray, cloth type material. Acoustical foam sheets, with a pyramid design, are provided for attachment to the interior wall surfaces. The standard foam color is charcoal gray. Strapping material and fasteners are black. The door hardware has a dull chrome finish.

Although the optional interior SoundWave Deflection System (SDS), shown in the photo below, is primarily for enhancing the interior sound quality, it also adds a very unique and attractive look.

DESIGN

WhisperRooms are made up of multiple components, each designed to have a manageable weight and size. The heaviest component weighs less than 115 lbs. This, and the fact that assembly / disassembly can easily be performed by the customer, permits routine reconfiguration to accommodate changes in location or reorganization. Nineteen sizes and two levels of isolation, STANDARD and ENHANCED, are available.

WhisperRooms are upgradeable.
This means that you can purchase a STANDARD, single wall system, and later upgrade to an ENHANCED, double wall system. This is especially helpful in situations where the customers needs are not clear.

WhisperRooms are expandable.
Units with model numbers beginning with 60, 84 or 102 consist of two or more piece ceilings/floors and can be expanded in the width dimension by inserting 18 or 42 inch expansion packages. Units with model numbers beginning with 72 consist of two or more piece ceilings/floors and can be expanded in the width dimension by inserting 24 or 48 inch expansion packages.

The only tool required for assembly is a screwdriver.
Ceiling and floor components are attached to wall components with straps and fasteners. Stainless steel bolts and pre-installed threaded inserts are used to attach wall components and seam seals to one another.

WhisperRooms are extremely well balanced.
This means that the noise reduction capability is comparable for walls, ceilings, floors, seam seals, ventilation systems, door and door jambing system and windows.

CONSTRUCTION

Every WhisperRoom component, including the door, is constructed of Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and completely wrapped with a durable 1/8 inch thick, cloth type material. STANDARD isolation units consist of one layer of the MDF barrier, while Enhanced isolation units have two layers. Acoustical foam sheets are provided for attachment to the interior wall surfaces. Non-permanent, Velcro, fasteners are used for attaching the foam. This allows the interior acoustics of each unit to be tailored to accommodate specific customer needs.

NOTE:  MDF is a premium manufactured wood product designed to exhibit a high level of consistency and mass throughout and should not be confused with lower grade, less consistent products such as oriented strand board (OSB), particle board or wafer board.

WALL
Standard unit wall construction consists of one layer of barrier and detachable foam. Enhanced unit wall construction consists of the Standard wall and an additional layer of barrier and foam (IEP wall). IEP wall structures are separated from the Standard wall structure with rubber vibration isolator pads. These pads provide an air buffer and minimize rigid contact between the two wall systems. FLOOR
Standard unit floor construction consists of one layer of barrier. Enhanced unit floor construction consists of the Standard floor with a 5/16" thick layer of DURACOUSTIC Sound Control Underlayment (IEP floor). This underlayment is made of reinforced rubber (recycled) matting with an open cell structure designed to enhance its sound deadening properties. NOTE: An additional 1"(2.54cm) thick, 3.25 Lbs/sqft(15.90kg/sqmtr) of barrier can be added by the installation of the optional Caster Plate. This would equate to 2 5/16"(5.87cm) overall thickness and 7.1 Lbs/sqft(34.74kg/sqmtr) of barrier.

The IEP door is separated from the Standard door with rubber washers. These washers provide an air buffer and minimize rigid contact between the two doors.

WINDOWS
Standard door and wall window unit construction consists of two layers of laminated safety glass separated by an air buffer. Each layer of laminated safety glass consist of a layer of transparent vinyl centered between two 1/8" thick layers of glass. Enhanced window unit construction consists of two Standard units separated by an air buffer. Laminated safety glass is used because of its superior noise reduction capability and safety features. If broken, it will not shatter! Air buffers between glass layers and the fact that the weight/sqft of a window exceeds that of a solid wall component, helps to prevent noise transfer. Installation of a window does not reduce the noise reduction capability of a WhisperRoom. It does, however, increase the amount of interior reflective surface area.
